Am I A Good Fit?

When considering therapy, it’s important for you to trust your future therapist. Consider the following to see whether I might be a good fit for your therapy goals.

Commitment

Are you able to commit to scheduled therapy sessions for the next 3-12 months?

Life is busy and the unexpected can arise out of nowhere. I get it! Your commitment to showing up to sessions for yourself is crucial in achieving your goals.

Each person’s needs for therapy are different. This means that we would come up with an individualized treatment plan to help you reach your goals. On average, most clients need at least 3 months (between 8-12 hour-long sessions) to really start experiencing the change in their lives they are seeking.

However, depending on the nature and impact of the challenges being worked through, there are clients who may see a therapist for 12+ months.

Recognizing that therapy is an investment in yourself, compare the financial cost of therapy to the possible long-term emotional costs of not getting the help and support you need!

Accountability

Are you willing to try out strategies we discuss during sessions outside of therapy?

As important as it is to show up for yourself to your scheduled sessions, it is also important to apply what we discuss in your daily life outside of therapy. The more we work at something, the stronger we become at it. The skills we do not practice do not tend to stick.

Our brains are similar to muscles as they get stronger when we exercise them. This means that just like lifting weights to see the results we want, we need to repetitively learn, relearn, and unlearn information to strengthen our brains and improve our mental health. This is called Neuroplasticity and it means that the repetition and processing of emotions and thoughts allows us to create new neural pathways.

If done intentionally and with enough repetition, we experience the meaningful changes we are striving for.

I am very big on suggesting resources, encouraging clients to practice skills and techniques, and checking out supplemental videos and articles in between sessions. This allows you to get the most out of your treatment and helps you hone your skills!

Style of Therapy

Just as you are unique, all therapists have different approaches and skills they bring to their practice. It’s so important that you have confidence that you’ve made the right decision before spending your time, money, and energy.

The secret sauce to successful therapy is having a therapist whom you can trust, is nonjudgmental, and is committed to walking alongside you as you work towards authentic living.

I could have a million tools in my toolkit to offer to you, but it won’t do any good if you can’t trust me.

Studies have shown that aside from a client’s motivation, the relationship between a therapist and client is one of the most important elements of a successful outcome derived from therapy.

While I am highly trained in mental health, I am not the expert on your life. You are! This means that our work together is highly collaborative.

I currently accept Anthem insurance.
